"36 days of type is a project that invites designers, illustrators and graphic artists to express their particular interpretation of the letters and numbers of the Latin alphabet… A project that aims to be a space for creation around typography and its endless graphic possibilities." - www.36daysoftype.com
I have always wanted to do a project like the 36 days of type, to improve my use of new software and my understanding of motion graphics but I never had the time. As Covid-19 lockdown 1.0 commenced in the UK I thought I should use all this free time wisely and decided to commit to making an animation of one character a day. Although I didn’t quite manage to keep up with the one a day turn around, it was a great way to learn a new software. I managed to get a pretty good grasp on the basics of cinema 4d, allowing me to use this software in other projects.
As I had some experience in processing I wanted to try and make the numbers responsive. I found that the best way to do this was to use p5.js, which allows the the code to be embedded in html and therefore shared on a website easily.
